A Wonderful Weekend at the KoiCave Young Koi Show in Venlo
There were just under 30 vats with koi, and I found the average quality to be quite impressive.
A Wonderful Weekend at the KoiCave Young Koi Show in Venlo
This past weekend, we had the pleasure of participating in a truly enjoyable koi show organized by the KoiCave and hosted at the beautiful Koi Center Venlo. The event was a great success, bringing together passionate hobbyists and koi enthusiasts from near and far. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a strong sense of community that reflects the best of what our hobby has to offer.
Our trainee judges had the opportunity to take part in the judging process under the guidance of experienced mentors, Joël Jouannet, Piet Vaessen and Ruud Besems. They performed with dedication, professionalism, and enthusiasm, gaining valuable hands-on experience and positive feedback throughout the event. It’s always rewarding to see the growth and confidence in our trainees as they continue on their path to becoming certified koi judges.
One of the highlights of the weekend was the kids’ koi show, which drew smiles from everyone present. The young participants brought their own koi to exhibit and some of them showed an impressive level of knowledge and interest. As part of our commitment to encouraging the next generation, we were proud to present our Friendship Award to one of the young participants, Thorsten Smetsers, a small gesture to celebrate his passion and to inspire continued involvement in the world of koi keeping.
We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to the Koicave team and Koi Center Venlo for their excellent organization and hospitality. Events like these not only showcase the beauty of koi but also strengthen the bonds within our international koi community.
